Taking Care of Your Pet After Surgery

Pain management after surgery is very important, even when the surgery is completely routine such as in the case of spays and neuters. Just because your pet sails through his or her surgery does not mean treatment is over. There will be some home care needed, including providing pain management and looking for any unusual signs and symptoms in your pet or at the site of the surgery.

• Hold off from bathing your pet for at least 10 days or until sutures are removed.

• Keep your pet from running and jumping for at least 2 weeks.

• Give your pet a quiet, comfortable place to recover for at least 24 hours.
